Art as Coping – Session A
September 8 – October 15
Mondays and Wednesdays | 1-2 p.m.
All children can benefit from a creative outlet to help process daily challenges and emotions. Designed for children who are having a hard time adjusting to the demands of virtual school or experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression, this program will use the visual arts to explore emotions. Each week will focus on a different emotion or obstacle and how to use art to cope and express that emotion in a healthier way, primarily through drawing and painting. Live online classes will provide opportunities for children to talk with the group about how they are adjusting to virtual school, dealing with stress and more. Pre-recorded content will be released every Friday. Live classes will take place on Zoom every Monday and Wednesday from 1-2 p.m.
Instructor | Devon Schlegel, MA, ATR-BC, LMHC, LPC
CAP will provide most supplies needed for this course. Families should have a pair of scissors and paper available at home.
