Make a Scene! Acting and Scenic Art – Session 3A
January 19 – February 26
Mondays | 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Led by Theatre Teaching Artist Fellow Katie Swider
Prerequisites | Currently enrolled in or already completed any theatre course
Students will be challenged to think like an actor, writer, director and scenic designer. They will be given a mystery location and asked to create a scenic backdrop using their own creative style. Students are encouraged to use items found around the house or recycled items in their creative process. Working with a partner, students will be given scenes where they will work as writers to fill in holes in the plot. Finally, students will work on their directing and acting skills by performing their original works in front of their original scenic design! Each student will need 3-5 feet of open space to move around freely. Pre-recorded content and assignments will be posted each week in Google Classroom. Live classes will take place on Zoom every Monday from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
CAP will provide most supplies needed for this course. Families may need to provide markers or construction paper for students to complete their backdrops.
Enrollment for this course has reached capacity, but a waitlist is available.
