Hip Hop at Chaffee Trail

Students must be enrolled at Chaffee Trail Elementary School to register for this course. Students will develop muscle memory and learn rhythm, coordination, musicality and choreography through age-appropriate movement and music. Hip hop encompasses many different urban dance styles, as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style. Students will be challenged to think on their feet while enjoying an energetic upbeat class.
In-person courses will follow the DCPS schedule for holidays and school closures.

Jacqareon Peterson-Thomas
Dance Teaching Artist
Jacqareon Peterson-Thomas started dancing at a young age and began her formal training at age 12 as a student at LaVilla School of the Arts. She earned an associate in arts degree in dance and has trained in ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, African, contemporary and lyrical dance. Jacqareon taught at Little Dancing Stars for several years and currently teaches ballet and hip hop at C&J Performing Arts Institute and Learning Center. She joined CAP as a part-time teaching artist in 2021.
