Led by Joshua Stone
In-Person
Intermediate and advanced string students, ages 11-18, will develop their knowledge of string instruments, technique, literature and other music-making skills while collaborating with other young musicians. Three 1-week sessions will be offered, with each week consisting of in-person classes Monday through Friday. Students may register for one or more sessions, as each will be unique and cover different skills.
Location

Session 3 | Working with an Accompanist
Playing with an accompanist is a specific skill that students don’t often learn. During this session, students will have the opportunity to learn a new solo piece and work with an accompanist during the second half of the session. Repertoire will be selected at the beginning of the week, or students may bring a piece they are already working on.
Guest Artist | Thomas Durante
Thomas Durante has played piano since the age of 7, began playing stringed instruments in middle school, and took up percussion in high school. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Florida State University, where he studied music composition, digital music production and traditional African drumming and dancing.
Mr. Durante has accompanied hundreds of students at solo and ensemble competitions, as well as performed in dozens of musicals as a synthesizer player with the orchestra. He is currently the orchestra director at Lakewood Ranch Senior High School, conducting over 40 students in grades 9-12.
