Important Information for Parents & Guardians
Permission Slips
Permission slips will be shared digitally with families. If you still need to submit one for your student, click here.
Please note on the permission slip if you will take your student home from the venue, or if you will pick up your student from their school after Showcase. If you plan to take your student home from the venue, view the dismissal procedures below.
Transportation & Rehearsal
All students will ride the bus from their school to the Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts for a rehearsal before their performance. Teaching artists will provide information on when to meet at the school for transportation to the venue. Please ensure your student arrives on time and has everything they need, including costumes, shoes (no flip-flops), makeup, instruments, etc.
Parking
Free parking will be available in the VyStar Tower Garage at the corner of Hogan St. and Bay St. Click here for a map.
Dismissal
All students must participate in the show finale – no early dismissals are permitted. Due to ongoing construction around the venue, dismissal plans will be sent closer to the show date and will be available in the program on the day of the show.
Students must be signed out by an authorized parent/guardian at these exits. Alternatively, if selected on the Permission Form, students may return to their school via bus for parent pickup there.
Please note: NO students will be dismissed early, and families are not allowed backstage at any time. Both performances will be photographed and photos will be made available to all families on CAP’s Facebook page.
Dismissal Procedure
Students will be dismissed via the Terry Lobby, accessible on Hogan Street, from the specified locations depicted below. Please refer to the signage at Showcase for your student’s dismissal door. Students must be signed out by a parent or guardian.
In order to make this process as quick and easy as possible, we ask that you do not crowd around the dismissal doors to allow all families the opportunity to sign out their student(s).
General Parking
Free parking is available in the garage designated above in purple. Additional free street parking may be available, but is not guaranteed. The main entrance to the Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts is on Water Street.
Accessible Drop-off and Parking
Guests may drive into the front circular driveway on Water Street to allow passengers to unload before parking. A limited number of accessible parking spaces are available in the parking lot immediately west of the building. Entrance to the lot is available via Pearl Street. Additional accessible spaces may be available on Hogan Street and Pearl Street.
