Beginner Strings at Central Riverside
Led by Joshua Stone

Students must be enrolled at Central Riverside Elementary School to register for this course. This course is designed for students with little or no experience playing violin, viola, cello or double-bass. Students will learn and review basic instrument care and techniques, and be introduced to more advanced techniques, including the bow, and music theory that will broaden their knowledge in music literature. CAP will provide all instruments for this course.
If your student is younger than third grade and you wish to enroll, please contact josh@capkids.org. CAP will provide all instruments for this course.
In-person courses will follow the DCPS schedule for holidays and school closures.

String Teaching Artist Fellow
Joshua provides string instruction at multiple schools and sites throughout the year. In addition to teaching string courses, he provides administrative support to the Program Team and leads the CAP String Orchestra. Joshua began playing violin in middle school and has performed and participated in masterclasses with many of today’s leading artists and ensembles. His goal is to offer all children equal opportunities to play string instruments, no matter their background or location. Joshua joined the CAP team in 2019 as the first full-time string teaching artist fellow.
