Grades 3-12
Summer Music Exploration: Ukulele
Led by Joshua Stone
In-Person
Explore a new string instrument that is not found in a typical string orchestra. The ukulele offers similarities to a violin, viola, cello or bass, but is much smaller and differs in how it is tuned and played. Students will learn to play chords and melodies on the ukulele and perform together at the end of the session.
CAP will provide ukuleles for all students.

Joshua provides string instruction at multiple schools and sites throughout the year. In addition to teaching string courses, he provides administrative support to the Program Team and leads the CAP String Orchestra. Joshua began playing violin in middle school and has performed and participated in masterclasses with many of today’s leading artists and ensembles. His goal is to offer all children equal opportunities to play string instruments, no matter their background or location. Joshua joined the CAP team in 2012 as a part-time teaching artist, and then as the first full-time string teaching artist fellow in 2019.
