Visual Arts at Abess Park

Students must be enrolled at Abess Park Elementary School to register for this course.
Young artists will discover the magic behind great art – and create their own! This course unveils the elements of art and principles of design – just some of the ingredients that bring artwork to life. Students will explore a variety of media and learn production skills, all while flexing their critical thinking and creative muscles. Inner artists will be unleashed through solo work and as part of a creative team!
In-person courses will follow the DCPS schedule for holidays and school closures.
Denise Banks Clodfelter
Teaching Artist in Visual Arts
Denise Clodfelter holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of North Florida, with a concentration was in painting, drawing and printmaking. She has also studied ceramics, papermaking and sculpture. Before attending UNF, she was a student at Florida State College at Jacksonville where she earned an Excellence in Printmaking award. Denise is a long-time Jacksonville resident and was a founding member of the Riverside Arts Market. She loves sharing her joy of art with her class and enjoys seeing the love of art bloom in her students! Denise joined CAP as a part-time teaching artist in 2022.
