Visual Arts at Chimney Lakes

This course has reached capacity, but a waitlist is available.
Students must be enrolled at Chimney Lakes Elementary School to register for this course. This course introduces students to the elements of art and principles of design, which are the building blocks of creating a work of art. At the same time, students are introduced to the process of creating fiber and textile arts as functional and traditional pieces. They are encouraged to engage and persist through the process of their creativity. Students will work individually and collaboratively.
In-person courses will follow the DCPS schedule for holidays and school closures.
This afterschool program is supported by the Kids Hope Alliance.

Petway Teaching Artist in Visual Arts
Ashlee provides visual arts instruction at multiple schools and community sites throughout the year. In addition to leading students in the classroom, she is also responsible for planning and supervising class field trips, guest artist visits and exhibition opportunities at CAP sites and throughout the Jacksonville community. Ashlee grew up participating in the performing arts, eventually finding her way to visual arts in high school and earning a college degree in arts education and visual arts. Ashlee joined the CAP team in 2023.
