Visual Arts at Springfield Middle

Students must be enrolled at Springfield Middle School to register for this course. This course introduces students to the elements of art and principles of design, which are the building blocks of creating a work of art. At the same time, students are introduced to various media and production skills and are encouraged to think critically and creatively. Students will work individually and collaboratively.
In-person courses will follow the DCPS schedule for holidays and school closures.

Petway Teaching Artist Fellow in Visual Arts
Meredith provides visual arts instruction at multiple schools and community sites throughout the year. In addition to leading students in the classroom, she is also responsible for planning and supervising class field trips, guest artist visits and exhibition opportunities at CAP sites and throughout the Jacksonville community. Meredith majored in painting in college and has worked at regional art galleries and museums. She has also painted on commission for over a decade and her paintings are in residential, corporate and academic collections throughout Jacksonville.
