World Drums at Hyde Park

Students must be enrolled at Hyde Park Elementary School to register for this course. Young musicians will embark on a sonic adventure in this exciting course! Students will explore music as a form of personal expression, using sound to tell their unique stories. They’ll also take a musical journey around the globe, connecting with diverse cultural traditions through melody and rhythm. As part of an ensemble, they’ll learn the art of playing together, mastering the essentials of tempo and timing. By the end of the course, these drummers will understand what it truly means to be part of a musical family, creating harmony both on and off the stage.
CAP will provide instruments for this course.
In-person courses will follow the DCPS schedule for holidays and school closures.

Michelle Taylor
Teaching Artist in Music
Michelle Taylor has been teaching music for more than 20 years. She is a certified Orff instructor with a Master of Education degree and is certified in both elementary education and music education. Michelle has been a music teacher at Hyde Park Elementary School since 2009. She previously taught music at a private school in Gainesville, as well as voice lessons at her music studio. Michelle joined CAP in 2011 and has taught choir, ukulele, world drums and general music classes for summer and school year programs.
