CAP Dance Ensemble

The Cathedral Arts Project Dance ensemble is comprised of current and former CAP dance students in grades 4-8. Students chosen for the ensemble have the opportunity to further their understanding of classical and contemporary dance through collaboration and performance.

The CAP Dance Ensemble is a dynamic program where both CAP and non-CAP dancers can pursue their passion across diverse dance styles while honing their technical abilities. Through rigorous training and performance opportunities, dancers develop their artistic character and stage presence. Collaboration with guest artists for specialized workshops and choreography enriches the dancers’ artistic growth and opens doors of opportunity to local and national dance competitions and performances. Comprehensive preparation for auditions, access to intensive programs and broad skill development open pathways toward professional dance careers for those who seek it.

Jackie Peterson
The CAP Dance Ensemble is directed by Jacqueline Peterson, CAP’s Teaching Artist Fellow in Dance. In addition to leading students in the classroom and the dance ensemble, she is also responsible for planning and supervising class field trips, guest artist visits and performance opportunities at CAP sites and throughout the Jacksonville community. Jacqueline has taught dance for more than 20 years and is the owner and director of C&J Performing Arts which offers instruction in ballet, hip hop, jazz, modern and tap for participants of all ages. Jacqueline joined CAP as a part-time teaching artist in 2012 and became a full-time teaching artist fellow in 2022.
