It was a whirlwind weekend at the Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts, where more than 1,000 Cathedral Arts Project students danced, acted, sang, drummed, and played their hearts out at the annual Performing Arts Showcase!

Thank you to the teaching artists, assistants, staff, volunteers, parents and students who made this weekend so special. Your dedication created a truly magical experience for everyone involved.

At Palm Avenue Exceptional Student Center, the lesson plan for the day was bubble art! CAP students were instructed to blow through a straw into a cup with liquid bubbles and watercolor to make bubble art on paper. The creations were colorful and the students enjoyed creating, comparing techniques and encouraging each other.

CAP’s sensory art programs introduce students with disabilities to a variety of materials to allow them to experience different textures, shapes, sounds, colors, patterns and more. This exposure provides diverse benefits for unique learners, helping students develop fine motor skills, regulate emotions, increase attention and foster social skills, teamwork, and a sense of belonging essential for emotional growth.
