Grades 3-8

CAP Theatre Co. | Fall Session: Broadway Workshop

Led by Christian Anderson

In-Person

This semester in the CAP Theatre Company, young actors will dive into the dazzling world of Broadway musicals! Through theatre games and creative exercises, they will stretch their imaginations, bringing characters and stories to life through song, dance and acting. As they explore choreography and dive into vocal techniques, budding performers will discover new ways to express themselves.

Students will have exciting opportunities to explore excerpts from musicals and plays. They’ll learn the fundamentals of acting, character development and how to tell a story through song. These rising stars will learn to shine in the spotlight and work together to create musical magic.

From show tunes to dance numbers, each activity is designed to boost confidence and nurture all-around theatrical talents. The young actors’ hard work will culminate in an end-of-class performance to demonstrate the skills they sharpened in this course!

Participation:
Each week, students should come to Musical Theatre wearing clothes and shoes that allow for comfortable movement. In order to keep the shared space clean, snacks are not permitted. However, bottled water is welcome and encouraged.

When students begin using scripts, they should bring their script and/or sheet music to every rehearsal. Students are also responsible for rehearsing their lines, songs and choreography at home. The more familiar they are with their performance material, the more confident they will feel performing in the showcase!

Performance Information:
The program culminates in a performance at Deck the Chairs on Sunday, December 13, where students will present a musical selection for family and friends. It’s the perfect opportunity for our young performers to demonstrate their newly acquired skills and share their passion for musical theatre.

CAP has partnered with Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church for this program. Classes will be held at 4001 Hendricks Avenue, 32207.
