CAP Launches Principal of the Arts Award
CAP launches the Principal of the Arts Award, recognizing excellence in arts education leadership in Duval County. The award was created as part of a collective impact strategy for evaluation and feedback, developed as a comprehensive assessment system and roadmap for schools.
CAP Family Day at MOSH
CAP partnered with the Museum of Science and History for the first-ever CAP Family Day at MOSH! Through activities like storytelling, acting, making music and creating visual art, local participants enjoyed an arts-integrated celebration and exploration of science, nature and the St. Johns River.
8th Annual Golf Tournament raises over $150,000
CAP’s 8th Annual CAP Golf Tournament, presented by Fickling Construction, raised over $150,000 in support of arts education. Since its inception, the tournament has raised nearly $900,000.
CAP Awarded $500,000 by Delores Barr Weaver Legacy Funds
CAP has been awarded by the Delores Barr Weaver Legacy Funds a $500,000 gift to create a new named teaching artist fellow position—the Delores Barr Weaver Teaching Artist Fellow in Theatre. CAP welcomes Christian Anderson as the new Delores Barr Weaver Teaching Artist Fellow in Theatre. CAP also adds three new teaching artist fellows to the team.
CAP String Orchestra Members Perform at Harvard, CIC, Portugal and Sewanee, Tennessee
The CAP String Orchestra Quartet was awarded second prize at the Crescendo International Music Competition and invited to perform at Harvard University. In addition, two members traveled over the summer to perform regionally and internationally.
Thousands of Elementary School Students Participate in Arts Field Trip Initiative
CAP is collaborating with numerous cultural organizations across Northeast Florida on a comprehensive field trip program for elementary school students. This summer, CAP will provide cultural experiences for up to 4,500 elementary school students from both public and charter schools.
The 19th Annual Spring for the Arts Breaks Fundraising Record
CAP held its 19th annual Spring for the Arts on Friday, April 26 at Epping Forest Yacht & Country Club. The organization’s signature fundraiser raised a record-breaking $820,579 in support of arts education and therapeutic programs for children and young adults in Northeast Florida.
CAP Awarded $150,000 to Expand Field Trip Initiative
CAP has been awarded grants by the Kids Hope Alliance and the National Endowment for the Arts to support the expansion of the Arts Integrated Field Trip Initiative which will provide elementary-aged students with free arts integration field trips.
Karen and Gregory Montana Announced as the 2024 Guardians of the Arts
CAP is thrilled to announce Karen and Gregory Montana as the distinguished 2024 Guardians of the Arts for their efforts to safeguard and advance the arts along the First Coast. The Montanas will be recognized at the 19th annual Spring for the Arts on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Epping Forest Yacht & Country Club.
