CAP Awarded $500,000 by Delores Barr Weaver Legacy Funds
CAP has been awarded by the Delores Barr Weaver Legacy Funds a $500,000 gift to create a new named teaching artist fellow position—the Delores Barr Weaver Teaching Artist Fellow in Theatre. CAP welcomes Christian Anderson as the new Delores Barr Weaver Teaching Artist Fellow in Theatre. CAP also adds three new teaching artist fellows to the team.
CAP String Orchestra Members Perform at Harvard, CIC, Portugal and Sewanee, Tennessee
The CAP String Orchestra Quartet was awarded second prize at the Crescendo International Music Competition and invited to perform at Harvard University. In addition, two members traveled over the summer to perform regionally and internationally.
The 19th Annual Spring for the Arts Breaks Fundraising Record
CAP held its 19th annual Spring for the Arts on Friday, April 26 at Epping Forest Yacht & Country Club. The organization’s signature fundraiser raised a record-breaking $820,579 in support of arts education and therapeutic programs for children and young adults in Northeast Florida.

CAP has been awarded grants by the Kids Hope Alliance and the National Endowment for the Arts to support the expansion of the Arts Integrated Field Trip Initiative which will provide elementary-aged students with free arts integration field trips.

7th Annual Golf Tournament Raises $119,360 for Arts Education
CAP announces it raised $119,360 in support of arts education at its 7th Annual CAP Golf Tournament, presented by Fickling Construction. The event was held on October 2, 2023, at Deerwood Country Club. Since its inception, the tournament has raised over $735,000.
CAP Acquires Connecting Thru Music
CAP announced the acquisition of Connecting Thru Music, a nonprofit organization that offers in-school and afterschool music therapy programs for children and young adults with disabilities. Under this agreement, CTM’s music therapy services have been integrated into CAP’s CAPabilities program — broadening the availability of these offerings to increase access to arts education for students with disabilities in Northeast Florida.
CAP Expands Philanthropy Team
CAP announced the appointment of Doug Walker as Vice President of Philanthropy, expanding its leadership team and positioning the organization for continued strategic growth. CAP also welcomes Jessie Brabender into her new position as Director of Leadership Giving.

Thousands of Elementary School Students Participate in Pilot Field Trip Initiative
CAP, in partnership with Kids Hope Alliance, the Florida Theatre, Duval County Public Schools and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, hosted a pilot field trip program for elementary school students from both public and charter schools. The effort is meant to increase student interest and access to the arts.
